The Historic Late Night Jam Session @Mutual Musicians' Foundation | FRIDAYS + SATURDAYS | 1AM - 5AM

Kansas City’s Local 627, African-American Musicians Union, founded in 1917, known today internationally as the Mutual Musicians Foundation, still stands in Kansas City, Missouri’s Historic 18th and Vine district at 1823 Highland Avenue. A national, historic landmark, the building is also entered in the National Register of Historic Places and the Kansas City Landmarks Commission Register.

Every Friday and Saturday night The Tradition Jams on as the Foundation opens its doors from 1AM to 5AM. Both Upstairs and downstairs you can hear some of the best of the best Jazz musicians in Kansas City. The Historic Late Night Jam Sessions serves as the organization's weekly fundraiser. Stop on in! We will explore the book, talking about things we see in our own environments, both good and bad, and things we could try to make our own environments more joyful.

Shahzad Zafar is a ScrumMaster and a Manager at Cerner Corporation. Shahzad is also an Agile Coach at Cerner and facilitates the Agile Bootcamp, ScrumMaster and Team Facilitation training, Lean Process Improvement training and is always looking to develop new trainings to help teams. He has also been leading Agile development teams since 2009.

Steve Toalson is an Agile Coach at Cerner Corporation. Steve’s Agile adventures began at Hallmark Cards, where Steve learned the ins and outs of being an Agile Coach on Hallmarks initial Agile endeavor. Often referred to as an evangelist, Steve is never shy to offer his perspective when it comes to the Agile Principles. In fact, he has them memorized. While at Hallmark, Steve assisted in all things Agile, conducting Training and working with other Agile Coaches – striving to build and promote high performing teams.

Happening on the First Friday of every month, Art meets History at the Crossroads at the Vine a Heart of America Black History Tour. Tours depart Union Station, 30 W Pershing Rd, Kansas City, MO 64108 at 500PM and 600PM and cost per ticket is $30.

One of the newest Kansas City history tours as a result of the Mutual Musicians' Foundation's Centennial Programming. The tours began last Friday with Kansas City Tour Company, founded by Erik Stafford! KCTC even brought along Charlie Parker's grandson, Bryan Parker, for the event!

Karla Deel, founder of Squeezebox Kansas City also joined the collab for this awesome kick-off event.

Last, but not least, shout out to James Hathaway, Jr. (Chairman James Hathaway's son) for serving up a brand new craft cocktail even made its debut; the 'Parker'!

The tour stop begins with a traditional two-piece with MMF artist members, AvaBella and Chairman James Hathaway, Sr., cocktails, MMF history told by MMF artist member and KOJH 104.7 FM Programming Director, James McGee.

Conductor Williams and Les Izmore of Heartfelt Anarchy. The duo recently began cultivating rap shows throughout the KC metro. 

"We host a VIBE of Hip Hop and Black African music in general from all over the galaxy. Edutainment is a solid element. We call it KCulture Building (pronounced KC Culture Building). Our goal is to create the environments that we want to see in KC. Creating new worlds. Organize. Organize. Organize. One LOVE.", says Izmore. 

Their first event was on June 10th at the miniBar (upstairs) and was their Juneteenth edition, the second was July 21st. They'll be back at the miniBar this weekend for their third installment. 

Their mission is Edutainment always. Each One Reach and Teach Many. The Black August Edition is for Black Political Prisoners.
